Miki Hyun, 4th Chair woman
Miki Hyun is the chairwoman of the Board for Family Touch. She is an architect by training and experience who received her B.A. from University of Rochester and her Masters in Architecture at University of Maryland. Subsequently, she joined Roche Dinkeloo Associates and worked on numerous international projects. She then established her own firm to continue pursuing her architectural passions.
Miki served for ten years on the Board of the Asian Women’s Christian Association, a non-profit agency devoted to serving the community through women’s leadership. Miki also served on the Architectural Board and was president of the Korean Affinity Group at Dwight-Englewood School, organizing fundraising and community building events. Additionally, Miki served over a decade as a Board member and gala chair for Sejong Cultural Education, a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering a sense of Korean-American cultural identity. She is also an avid gardener who derives great joy from working in nature.
Do Yon & Kevin Hwang, Vice Chair
Kevin Hwang is currently the Managing Director of Fixed Income Capital Markets at Stifel. Prior to his work at Stifel, Hwang held trading and sales responsibilities at Keefe, Bruyette & Woods, Inc (KBW). Kevin’s sell side career began at Morgan Stanley, distributing a variety of Structured Products. Kevin is a co-founder and former Board of Director of the Mirae Foundation, the parent organization of Korean-American Students Conference (KASCON). Kevin earned his B.S. from MIT and his M.B.A. from NYU Stern School of Business. He is also a CFA Charterholder and a member of the New York Society of Security Analysts.
Choong J. Kim, Treasurer
Kyun Yi, Secretary General
Kyun was born in Korea, raised in California, but has lived in NY/NJ area for the majority of his adult life. He is the Managing Partner of De Martini & Yi, LLP, an insurance defense law firm located in New York. Outside of the practice of law, Kyun has been active in his community having served in leadership roles with various charity and professional organizations. Today, he serves as a facilitator for Connecting Business and Marketplace to Christ (CBMC) chapters in Long Island and New Jersey, and is on the Board of Director of Family Touch. He is an avid runner, mountain biker & road cyclist, and enjoys fishing, and is now a beginner golfer. Kyun is married to Jayoung, and together they have a son and a daughter.
Chul S. Hyun, M.D.
CHUL S. HYUN obtained his B.A. from Johns Hopkins University. After earning an M.D. from the University of Miami School of Medicine, he underwent internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Georgetown University Medical Center. Subsequently, he completed Gastroenterology and Liver Fellowship at Yale University School of Medicine.
He is Board certified in Gastroenterology and has served as a faculty in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Weill Cornell Medical College. Dr. Hyun speaks frequently in both academic and community settings. He has served as a Board Member of the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners and as the president of Korean American Medical Association. In 2010, he established the Center for Viral Hepatitis (CVH) and later the Asian American Stomach Cancer Task Force (AASCTF), non-profit organizations devoted to raising awareness and to seek resources for prevention and treatment of viral hepatitis and stomach cancer.
Soon Bin & Jae Deok Kim
Jae Deok Kim who came to the US with his parents in 1973 married Soonbin who was an art student in Paris in 1983. They have 4 children. Jae has majored in chemical engineering from Columbia university and is currently an owner of a real estate management company in NYC. They have been serving FamilyTouch for 10 years as board members.
1973년 부모님과 뉴욕에 이민온 김재덕이사는 1983년 파리에서 유학중이던 부인과 결혼해서 슬하에 네 자녀를 두고있다.콜럼비아 대학에서 화학공학을 전공했고 현재는 부동산 management 회사를 경영하고있다.지난 10년간 Family Touch 를 섬기고 있다.
Sun & Young Kil Kim
Sun Kim is currently the President of Bethel Industries Inc, a clothing and textile manufacturer working with the Department of Defense. In recent years, Sun has received a number of awards including: the Urban Angel Award from New York Theological Seminary; the US Small Business Association Award for Excellence; the Defense Logistics Agency Outstanding Readiness Award; the Asian Women in Business Leadership Award. Kim also serves on a number of not-for-profit of boards. She is the president emeritus of the New York chapter of KOWIN, a founding member of the CSK Charitable Foundation, as well as a board member of Englewood Hospital Medical Center.
Youngkil Kim is the Founder and President Emeritus of Bethel Industries Inc. Mr. Kim established Bethel industries as the first and only Korean American supplier to the United States Armed Forces. Kim is also the CEO of Soraa Inc.
Sun H. Kim
Sun is currently the managing controller of several US commercial shopping centers exceeding 34 malls, and the founder and CEO of a professional beauty supply business she has been operating for over 25 years.
Community service is an important aspect of Sun’s life. Sun currently serves on the board of Family in Touch, served as the 11th president of the Long Island Korean association, served as an Advisor to the Long Island Economic Development Organization, and served on the Nassau county Korean community police commissioner’s council. Sun is a devout Christian and is a member of Arumdaum Church in Bethpage, NY serving as an ordained deacon. Sun’s background stems from her studies at Nyack College with her studies focusing on business administration and biblical studies.
Henry June Lee, M.D. & Jihoon Park
Henry was born in the United States but raised in Seoul, South Korea. He returned to the United States for his higher education, receiving a B.S. in biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a M.D. Ph.D. from Tufts University School of Medicine. He currently serves as an associate professor at Weill Cornell Medicine.
Jihoon obtained her B.S. degree in computer science from Ewha Woman’s University, and her master of business administration from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. She has broad work experiences in the IT industry, where she leveraged her technology background and business analytical skills to great success.
Henry and Jihoon were married in 2003 and have one son and one daughter. They reside in New York City. They joined the Board of Directors of Family Touch in year 2020, hoping to carry on the legacy of positive impact on families and their community.
Hyejung Min
Hyejung Min studied in lifestyle modeling and textile pattern design at a cultural Women’s University in Japan. Afterwards, she moved to New Jersey and got married. In 2004, she joined FamilyTouch and served as a Board of director for 16 years, working as an event designer. She established “Hye Studio” in 2019 and has been working as a freelancer with flower, interior decor, restaurant decoration upgrade project, home staging, culinary research, and a food stylist.
Chong & Susan Park
Chong Park is the former Chairman of the Board of the Fort Lee Korean Association. He has served Family Touch as a board member for 11 years. Park is known in the Korean American community as a social activist for human rights.
Jae & Peelyoon Yang
Mr. Jae Yang carries many titles – CEO of Agape Leaders Institute, founder and board member of American Debate League, high school chemistry teacher at Mount Vernon High School, and an elder of NY Woori Church. Out of many titles he carries, Mr. Yang likes the title of being a proud father of seven children the most. His family has a wonderful relationship with one another and shares a vision of loving God and loving their neighbors. With his education and entrepreneurial background and experience in raising seven children, he is excited to support the mission of Family Touch. Mr. Yang will work with Dr. Chung and the board to expand the educational and counseling programs for families, couples, youths, and seniors to New York. He is excited to see families, couples, and youths becoming socially and emotionally healthy through the programs offered by Family Touch.
Out of many life and career experiences, Peelyoon Yang values being a proud mother of seven children the most. With her education background in special education and experience in raising seven children she is excited to support the mission of Family Touch. Peelyoon Yang will work with Dr. Chung and the board to expand the educational and counseling program for families, couples, youths, and seniors to New York.
Jayoung Yi
Jayoung received her undergraduate degree in social work from Ewha University, and her Master’s of Social Work degree from Columbia University. She practiced as a clinical psychotherapist for many years. Currently, she is a homemaker, and volunteers her time as a facilitator for Youth With A Mission (YWAM) New Jersey Acts. She is an avid runner and has completed several marathons and half marathons. Jayoung is married to Kyun, and together they have a son (Thomas 19) and a daughter (Ashley 17).
Jisoo Yoon, Esq.
Jisoo Yoon is working as legal counsel and consultants for Korean biotech companies advancing into the US market. He majored in Economics and Political Science from the University of Rochester and studied law from Boston College Law School. Ji Soo joined Family Touch as a board member in 2021.
